Art class 2019

This past fall semester of school I was a ninth grader in ceramics one. I had such a great time and made some really influential friends that were upperclassmen. My favorite project that I made was the matching mugs  assignment. At first I didn’t really know what to build, I was a little challenged because I knew that these mugs had to be exactly identical. I made avocados on my mugs. Avocados are my favorite food and fairly easy to do. They were also very cute.

So I took a ball of clay and made an acavodo shape and took wire cutters and cut the perfect oval in half. Then on both sides I hollowed out the middle a little for a small pit could be placed on one. I placed a ball in the middle of one and tried to line it up so that when the mugs were placed together they would close the avocado halves to make full. I stroked and slipped the half’s onto the mugs and smeared them on so they were full on. Then I smoothed it all out and they were ready to be placed into the kiln. I decided to paint the base mugs a bright yellow and the inside a light blue. Then the avocado was it’s basic colors green and brown. I really enjoyed making these and meeting new friends this past semester and hope I can take another art class in the future.
