Value Line Art Project

This is my line art project that I created during my junior year in the class of Introduction to Visual Arts. It is titled “ Blues” as I used all shades of blues as seen with an analogous color scheme. When creating this piece we had to first listen to some songs we liked, and I choose older songs from the 50’s and 60’s such as “ Tiny Bubbles”, “ A Man and His Dream”, and “ My Girl”, Then I also listened to some water themed songs such as, “ Waves” by Tame Impala and “ Coast”, and “Singing in the Rain”. By listening to songs like these I choose my shapes and first practiced on 1/4 sized scratch paper. Once I got a design I liked, we made four copies of it and then placed them on one big sheet of paper with two facing up and the other two facing down. Then another piece of paper was placed on top of this and a light box placed under and we traced the big design into the top piece of paper. Once everything was traced we used prismacolor pencils to create value on our shapes and a black background.

This whole process took about three weeks in Mrs. Seitz’s 4th block class. It was very fun as I got to spend a lot of time with my friends coloring and talking.
