Description
My favorite project that I completed this semester in High School Sewing Class was my USA themed bears. I made one with a light blue checkered fabric pattern and then a second one to match that was made with red base with white polka dots. On the blue bear I used an embroidery machine to stitch the letters “USA” on the inside right foot and then patched it on. On my red bear, I did the same print but a bit smaller and on the inside left arm. I made these bears as a gift for Christmas this year to give to my brother who is currently at the United States Naval Academy.
Pattern
I first found this pattern while a Joan’s Fabric store with my class this year on a field trip and decided to pick it out and then gave to my teacher for students to use in the future if they want to.

Reflection
I think they turned out pretty well, they weren’t exactly like what the picture on the pattern showed but that is okay. I wanted matching bears and my fellow friend wanted to make a bunny. We decided to get it and worked on it together. It was a pretty easy project in the way that it was a only two fronts and two backs sewn together. The hardest part was sewing the dart seams, around the curves and the tail part. One mistake that I would avoid would be to sew the eyes and nose first before you start stuffing the inside. This way it is a lot easier to sew on these items. I think this project ranks in bewteen a beginner and intermediate level of skill.
